The Heydar Aliyev Center was designed by Zaha Hadid, the first female architect to win the prestigious Pritzker Prize. In 2014, the British Design Museum named the center’s building the best in the world in the Design of the Year category.
The center houses a multimedia museum dedicated to the life and work of Heydar Aliyev, the third president of Azerbaijan. The Mini Azerbaijan exhibition features miniature copies of historical and architectural landmarks of Azerbaijan. The doll exhibition in the country’s capital features 400 exhibits from different countries.
The basement floor is occupied by classic retro cars: De Dion-Bouton, Ford T, Bentley S2 Continental Mulliner Park, BMW 502, Fiat 500, Cadillac Deville Series 62 Coupe, Chaika, Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, Chevrolet Corvette C1, Porsche 550 Spyder. The collection of cars is complemented by thematic reproductions, archival videos and decorations of automobile life from different years: gas stations, garage utensils, items from different eras.
